Basically, the browser breaks down the webpage code and executes it to translate it into meaningful content for users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the fundamentals of different web browsers are different. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.html5rocks.com\/en\/tutorials\/internals\/howbrowserswork\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">process of parsing also varies<\/a> by browsers. Hence, a fast-loading webpage on Safari can be slow on Chrome or vice-versa. Even with 3G and 4G networks now common, 5G networks in implementation, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/11\/07\/china-starts-6g-development-having-just-turned-on-its-5g-mobile-network.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">6G under research<\/a>, average <a href=\"https:\/\/qz.com\/1491952\/the-worlds-fastest-and-slowest-internet-speeds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">internet speeds still vary widely by countries<\/a>. In fact, some countries still haven\u2019t fully phased out 2G networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thankfully, Google has confirmed that it will only consider page content (and not the internet speed) while labeling the slow-loading webpage. However, it also takes the real-life performance of the webpage into consideration while identifying whether it\u2019s fast or slow. Best case scenario: 50ms.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Lighthouse is a comprehensive page analysis tool, if you\u2019re looking for something specific just for page speed, try <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/speed\/pagespeed\/insights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Google PageSpeed Insights<\/a>. You can also look into <a href=\"https:\/\/gtmetrix.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">GTMetrix<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/yslow.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">YSlow<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adpushup.com\/blog\/22-website-speed-optimization-tools-for-publishers-to-check-out\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">other tools<\/a> that offer similar functionality. Increasing bounce rates caused because of this update could directly impact a website\u2019s search rankings, in turn hurting publishers\u2019 revenue generation ability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Preparation is key here. We advise publishers to install the Google Lighthouse extension and use it to generate a performance report for their website.
