This ensures good UX.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LCP thresholds are, as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Good: LCP of 1200 milliseconds or less (nothing to do here)<\/li><li>Needs improvement: LCP between 1200 and 2400 milliseconds.<\/li><li>Poor = LCP higher than 2400 milliseconds.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-how-to-measure-largest-contentful-paint-score\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_measure_Largest_Contentful_Paint_Score\"><\/span><strong>How to measure Largest Contentful Paint Score?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Webmasters or publishers can perform a Largest Contentful Paint test &nbsp;by using the following tools:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/web\/tools\/chrome-user-experience-report\">Chrome User Experience Report<\/a>;<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/speed\/pagespeed\/insights\/\">PageSpeed Insights<\/a>;<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/search.google.com\/search-console\/welcome\">Search Console (Core Web Vitals report)<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/web\/tools\/chrome-devtools\/\">Chrome DevTools<\/a>.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/web\/tools\/lighthouse\/\">Lighthouse<\/a>.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/webpagetest.org\/\">WebPageTest<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since LCP is a metric approved by Google, we can easily find LCP score in all these tools.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-how-to-improve-first-contentful-paint-fcp-time\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_To_Improve_First_Contentful_Paint_FCP_time\"><\/span><strong>How To Improve First Contentful Paint (FCP) time:<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that we\u2019ve understood what FCP is and why is it important, let\u2019s take a look and how one can improve the FCP timing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eliminate Render Blocking Resources:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Render blocking resources are the files that on a website that must render. These may include fonts, CSS files, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adpushup.com\/blog\/using-third-party-javascript\/\">JavaScript<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adpushup.com\/blog\/how-to-use-amphtml-ads-for-better-and-faster-ad-serving\/\">HTML<\/a>. These files are called \u2018render blocking\u2019 because they take priority over other elements of the page (for example, the images, text, or other user-facing content).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This delay creates a sudden increase in LCP since render blocking files are usually large in size, and they don\u2019t even contain site content.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LCP time can be reduced if you remove render resources from the critical rendering path, defer non-critical resources, or remove unnecessary JS.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Remove Unnecessary CSS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve files in your stylesheets that aren\u2019t being used, but take significant speed, there\u2019s no point keeping them. Hence, any unused or old code should be removed so that it doesn\u2019t impact the loading time of your site.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Minify HTML, JavaScript, and CSS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minification of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS can significantly reduce the LCP time of your website. Minification is removing all extra characters such as spaces from your site\u2019s CSS, HTML, and JavaScript files.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While spacing helps readability, browsers don\u2019t need them. These spaces in fact take up bytes and minimizing them would decrease page size and improve First contentful paint timing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Optimize image size&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Always use images of right sizing.You can use an image optimizer plugin like SSmush or Hummingbird to reduce image size. Reducing size avoids overloading, which can generate a high LCP.
